Ingredients:
4 Turkey legs (about 1 to 1-1/4 lbs each)
2 cup Blueberries
2/3 cup Balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup Maple syrup
3 cloves Garlic, smashed
1/4 cup Minced shallots
1-1/2 tbsp Molasses
Pinch of red pepper flakes
Salt & pepper to taste
Directions:
Prep the Glaze:
Place the blueberries, balsamic vinegar and maple syrup in a small sauce pot.
On the grill's side burner, bring to a boil. Then reduce and simmer until the blueberries have broken down.
Stir occasionally while cooking, about 10 to 15 minutes.
Add the garlic, shallots and red pepper flakes, stir and continue cooking for 5 to 7 more minutes.
Use an immersion blender (alternatively, you can pour into a regular blender) to blend the ingredients in the pot until desired consistency is reached.
Return pot to heat, add molasses and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Stir and let simmer over low heat for another 15 minutes.
Remove from heat and set aside, BBQ sauce will thicken as it cools.
Turkey Prep:
Preheat the grill to medium-high.
Pat turkey legs dry.
Season with salt and pepper.
Grilling:
Once the grill is hot, place turkey legs on the grill.
Coat with BBQ sauce as the legs cook, making sure to flip and coat a few times during the process.
Grill until internal temperature of the legs is 165°F.
When done, remove and serve with additional BBQ sauce.
